BridgeLINK-Pro, -II, -Lite & Campus BridgeLINK Power FAQ
What type of power supply is needed for the RMG-3XX ?There are several possible answers, depending on your setup. If you not using Power Over Ethernet (PoE), the included 10V 800mA power supply will work for all setups. If you are using PoE, see below. Back to TopI am using the RMG-397 with PoE and 15' (4.5M) of Cat5 cabling. What type of power supply should I be using ?Our recommendation is to use 10V @ .8A (800mA) power supply. Back to TopI am using the RMG-397 with PoE and 50' (15M) or more of Cat5 cabling. What type of power supply should I be using ?Our recommendation is to switch to a 15V @ 1A (1000mA) power supply. You may use Steven Foskett's POE Calculator to fine tune voltage. The BridgeLINK-Pro accepts a wide range of inputs, provided you deliver the minimum voltage of 10V and a minimum amperage of .8A at the bridge. For this calculator, the defaults have been provided, but make sure to change the AWG cable type if you are using any cable other than that RadioLAN provided. Back to TopShould the power supply input be AC or DC ?The RMG-3XX units can accept either AC or DC input supplies. Running AC voltage is generally more cost effective and will exhibit less loss on the cable due to thermal dissipation. The RMG-5xx series uses DC power supplies only. Do NOT use an AC power supply with the RMG-5XX products. Back to TopI am using the RMG-503, do I need to use different power supplies for different cable runs when using PoE ?No, the included 48VDC power supply should cover all but the longest Cat5 cable runs when using PoE.
